W2 AI for Everyday Work
Tuesday September 15, 2026 8:00am - 11:30am MDT
Registration Required - Cost: $175 + GST
Attendees should bring their work laptops with Office 365.
Speakers:
  • Jennie Bryant, Director of Technology Experience & Enablement, WBM Technologies
  • Fiya Sebastine, Technology Experience and Enablement Leader, WBM Technologies
  • Jody Sagen, Manager of Technology Engagement & Adoption, WBM Technologies
This session is designed to give water and wastewater professionals a clear, practical introduction to how artificial intelligence is becoming part of everyday work. Participants will explore what AI really means in a business setting, where it already shows up in familiar tools, and how it can be used safely and responsibly to support daily tasks. No technical background is required, and the session is paced to be comfortable for anyone who is curious but unsure where to start.
The workshop also focuses on real workplace scenarios, including how AI can help save time in meetings, support clearer communication, and reduce the overhead of routine work. Just as importantly, the session will address the human side of change, offering guidance on how to introduce new tools in a way that builds confidence, trust, and adoption across teams. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of what is possible today and how to take simple, thoughtful first steps in their own organizations.
Topics covered:
  • A practical approach to getting started with AI
  • Ways AI can support communication, meetings and day-to-day tasks
  • Approaches to introducing AI to your organization in a way that encourages confidence and adoption
Who should attend: This session is ideal for water and wastewater operators, supervisors, managers, and support staff who are curious about AI and want a practical, easy to understand starting point. It is especially suited for those who influence day to day operations, communication, training, or process improvement and want to better understand how AI may support their work without needing a technical background.

W5 – Application of Water & Wastewater Treatment Chemistry & Equipment
Tuesday September 15, 2026 12:30pm - 4:00pm MDT
Registration Required - Cost: $175 + GST
Speakers:
  • Garry O’Donnell, Owner KGO Group Ltd.
  • Ryan Devlin, B.Sc. Chem, President SLS Chemical Inc.
This workshop is built around the real-world application of water and wastewater treatment chemistry and the equipment required to make it work in practice. It is designed for operators, supervisors, and technical staff who deal with the day-to-day reality of keeping systems running, maintaining compliance, and managing performance under changing conditions.
The discussion will explore how chemical programs are selected, tested, and validated, from bench testing and pilot trials through to full-scale operation, while highlighting where performance often begins to drift once systems are in service. Participants will gain practical insight into evaluating chemical programs under real-world plant conditions, including influent variability, operational constraints, and the ongoing balance among cost, performance, and regulatory compliance.
Equally important, the focus will shift to how these chemical programs are applied through physical systems. In many cases, performance issues are not driven by the chemistry itself, but by how it is delivered through pump selection, mixing energy, tank design, feed accuracy, and overall system integration. The content will cover when and where different types of pumps, mixers, tanks, and feed strategies are appropriate, as well as key considerations for safety, durability, and long-term reliability. Industry standards and certifications, including ISO, CWB, CSA, and ASME B31.3, will be referenced in building systems that perform under demanding conditions.
Using field-based examples, common gaps between design intent and operational reality will be highlighted, providing attendees with a more complete framework for making informed, defensible decisions that improve performance, reduce risk, and support long-term plant success.
At its core, this workshop reinforces a simple principle, treatment performance is achieved when sound chemistry is matched with well-designed, properly operated systems.
Topics covered:
  • Real world application of equipment required to dose chemicals to water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Understanding how dosing equipment and chemistry interact with your treatment system
  • Selecting the appropriate equipment to maximize performance and minimize cost.
  • Selecting appropriate chemicals for a variety of conditions under changing conditions
  • Industry standards and certifications, including ISO, CWB, CSA, and ASME B31.3
  • Field-based examples, common gaps between design intent and operational reality
  • making informed, defensible decisions that improve performance, reduce risk, and support long-term plant success
Who should attend:
  • Operators, supervisors, Engineers and other technical staff who deal with the day-to-day reality of keeping systems running, maintaining compliance, and managing performance under changing conditions.
  • Process and Project Engineers responsible for the design and implementation of chemical dosing systems and programs.
