This workshop is built around the real-world application of water and wastewater treatment chemistry and the equipment required to make it work in practice. It is designed for operators, supervisors, and technical staff who deal with the day-to-day reality of keeping systems running, maintaining compliance, and managing performance under changing conditions.
The discussion will explore how chemical programs are selected, tested, and validated, from bench testing and pilot trials through to full-scale operation, while highlighting where performance often begins to drift once systems are in service. Participants will gain practical insight into evaluating chemical programs under real-world plant conditions, including influent variability, operational constraints, and the ongoing balance among cost, performance, and regulatory compliance.
Equally important, the focus will shift to how these chemical programs are applied through physical systems. In many cases, performance issues are not driven by the chemistry itself, but by how it is delivered through pump selection, mixing energy, tank design, feed accuracy, and overall system integration. The content will cover when and where different types of pumps, mixers, tanks, and feed strategies are appropriate, as well as key considerations for safety, durability, and long-term reliability. Industry standards and certifications, including ISO, CWB, CSA, and ASME B31.3, will be referenced in building systems that perform under demanding conditions.
